A
Louisiana driver’s license may be obtained at any Louisiana
Office of Motor Vehicles. The fee for a four year driver’s
license is $18. If moving from out of state, bring your out-of-state license and two documents showing proof of residency.

Vehicle
registration is required after 30 days of residency and after a
Louisiana driver’s license has been obtained. Call for exact
fee. Current title, current registration, and proof of liability
insurance are required.

Automobiles

displaying large orange signs reading "Official Louisiana Motor
Vehicle Inspection Station."
Boat
Registration
Forms
to register all motorboats may be obtained from the sheriff’s
offices, or the Louisiana Department of Wildlife and Fisheries.
Cost: $15 for new applications (valid for three years on all
boats not previously registered in Louisiana): $5 for owner
transfer; $15 reinstatement fee for any Louisiana boat with
expired registration; $5 for duplicate registration certificate.
All have an additional $1 charge for postage and handling.
Fishing
and Hunting
Recreational
licenses may be purchased at area retail stores. All basic
sports fishing licenses and recreational gear licenses are valid
from the date of purchase and expire on June 30 each year. In
addition to other bona fide residency requirements, a Louisiana
Driver’s License or ID Card issued by the Department of Public
Safety is required to purchase resident recreational hunting and
fishing licenses. For information on fees for residents and
