Health
Care
DeSoto Parish is
experiencing a surge of growth in the health care industry with
one hospital in the DeSoto Parish area and two clinics. DeSoto Regional
Health Systems, a general hospital, is located at 207 Jefferson Street
in Mansfield.
DeSoto Regional has been
recognized for being one of a hundred hospitals in the United
States making the greatest progress in improving hospital-wide
performance over a span of five years (2000-2005). The two clinics are DeSoto Regional Family Medicine of
Logansport located at 110 Main Street in Logansport and DeSoto Regional Family Medicine of
Mansfield located at 130 Jefferson St. in Mansfield. A completely new ambulatory care wing for DeSoto
Regional Hospital opened mid 2001. This 23,000 square foot
facility includes state of the art facilities for emergency
care, surgery, radiology and laboratory services. Seven primary
care physicians are based in the parish with many consulting
sub-specialists visiting on a regular basis. DeSoto Parish is
also home to two large nursing homes, with a capacity of 235

Housing
DeSoto Parish has been
described as distinct, diverse and delightful. Add the word
"beautiful" to the description of this southern
parish. The hundreds of acres of towering pines, enchanting
cypress, dogwoods and magnolias make a perfect setting for a
comfortable and relaxed lifestyle. The entire area combines the
convenience of a big city and the hospitality of a small town
with affordable housing and a moderate cost of living.
The options for housing
are plentiful, from nice subdivisions, patio homes, lakefront
homes, to apartments and condos. Many homes in the area date
back to the 1800’s and early 1900’s with many large and
stately structures restored and livable. There is a unique blend
of housing styles and income levels in every township in the
parish. A $75,000 homestead exemption in Louisiana plus very
reasonable property taxes are great incentives for home buyers. |
